The 5th Annual MMA World Expo, the East Coast’s premiere mixed martial arts gathering, is returning to the Jacob Javits Center, North Pavilion this July 26th and 27th. The new summertime schedule promises to be larger than ever, with more attractions, exhibitors and a televised amateur MMA championship tournament. The MMA World Expo will continue to play its role in the fight for professional MMA legalization by conducting its legalization panel discussions, petitions, and by putting on display all of the athletes, coaches, fans and vendors who contribute to the sport.
The MMA World Expo has partnered with Fighters Source, an international league for amateur MMA, to bring their National Championships to New York City as the Expo’s main event on Saturday evening, July 26th. Amateur fighters from across the country are currently competing for a chance to fight at the National Championships in which the victors will advance to represent Team USA at the World Championships in London, England. Anthony Medina, Fighters Source President, had this to say about the event:
“Fighters Source is very excited that we are partnering with the MMA World Expo this summer at the famous Javits Center in Manhattan NY and even more thrilled about having the Fighters Source 2014 season finals as the main event. Expo weekend should be a true testament in supporting the legalization of Pro-MMA in the state of NY. Fighters and MMA fans alike must all come together in this crusade.”
For Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappling fans and competitors, the MMA World Expo will bring the most prestigious name in submission grappling, Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) America, to this year’s show. ADCC America will hold tournaments on both expo days offering gi and no gi competition across dozens of divisions, including women’s and children’s. In addition, ADCC America will showcase grappling celebrities for super fights on both show days. “ADCC is excited to be part of the MMA Expo and bring the Olympics of grappling to Manhattan. With the trials rapidly approaching, this is an excellent opportunity for athletes to compete and prepare for the biannual event,” said Jennifer Golden, Event Coordinator for ADCC America.
The MMA World Expo will look to expand its exhibit hall and make even more attractions available to fans. Among the activities will be celebrity MMA athlete autograph sessions, hands on instruction via the Training-with-the-Masters classes, MMA documentaries and short films, leading MMA vendors, MMA seminars, and a wide selection of MMA schools offering prospective students a chance to meet with instructors and staff.
